All roads and international air routes will during the weekend be leading to Tanzania’s northern safari capital of Arusha to grace a maiden region premier – the outdoor auto show.

Dubbed “Arusha Auto Show 2019,” the first of its kind to be organized with an eye to promote automobile and automotive industries, is slated for February 23-24, 2019, at the spacious Magereza Grounds just off from Arusha Airport.

Billed as the East African region premier auto fair, the event, which is expected to attract nearly 5,000 spectators, people from the business community, exhibitors, and car fans from across the region and beyond, is being organized by Idea Africa.

“The show creates a perfect business avenue for entrepreneurs as it provides the opportunity for exhibitors to present their vehicles to the transportation and logistics industry,” said Augustine Namfua, the Fair’s Executive Chairman and Idea Africa’s CEO.

Mr. Namfua, who is a mastermind behind the show, adds that the event will bring together car fans, industry service providers such as insurance companies, financial institutions, tour operators, and spare parts and accessories dealers, all under one roof.

He added, “This event provides commercial vehicle operators with far greater choice than any other exhibition serving the industry.”

As to why Arusha, the organizer says the city not only boasts an accommodating and fast-growing middle class population, but also enjoys an ever-increasing and remarkable interest in modern, classic, and vintage cars.

“Arusha Auto Show will be the perfect avenue for promoting and sustaining the culture. With a thriving tourism and mining trades, Arusha now needs even more recreational events for the population to feel the multiplier effects,” Mr. Namfua explained.

Revelers and family members intending to visit the show will not regret, as they will all not be required to pay for entry fees to enjoy the festive activities in store for them.

Unlike other shows countrywide, the festive activities will never interfere with designated Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings throughout the event days.

The organizers have created unique and executive business lounges for community leaders in the general and auto trade to have either one-on-one or group sessions.

As part of its corporate social responsibility, Idea Africa also plans to offer small- and medium-scale entrepreneurs a room for them to supply food and drinks as well as entertain the crowd and children, among other things.

Commenting on behalf of the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO), Chief Executive Officer Sirili Akko said the Arusha Auto Show comes at the right moment, as the city, billed as the pearl of the country’s tourism and diplomatic activities, needs such events to stimulate the local economy.

“I’m sure Arusha Auto Show’s economic multiplier effects will trickle down to the common folks, as it will attract a number of people not only from nearby cities but from across the East African region who will come and spend in Arusha,” Mr. Akko explained.
